We can give you a new reason to Smile.
We welcome every member of your family to our practice from the baby with the first teeth erupting to grandparents who may be concerned about gum disease.
Best practices recommend children see a dentist by their first birthday. Yes, it sounds really early, but this is the time you can put into place the best oral hygiene techniques and be educated on what to watch for regarding cavity development or other potential issues that commonly arise.
Baby teeth are temporary but keeping them healthy will lead to amazing health benefits as an adult! They also have important jobs to fulfill during this development phase of life. Perhaps their most important job is to be a guide and “hold the space” for the eruption of permanent (adult) teeth so they can follow into their proper place.
For the first six years or so, kids rely on their primary teeth exclusively to bite, chew and speak. Between ages 6 – 12, your child will have a mix of primary and permanent teeth. You will want to make sure those teeth stay healthy and are lost naturally. Throughout your life, we recommend routine cleanings to catch any issues before they become problems.
When folks are older, they may develop a condition where the gums begin to full away from the teeth and small spaces form which become infected. This is Periodontitis. The body fights the bacteria on the plaque that can be below the gum line, but if untreated, it can break down the connective tissue and bone that hold the teeth in place. By catching this condition early, we can intervene with treatment. This is exactly why we are here for you in every stage of life.
